Hello parents!

We did not have time for closing meeting today but we had a great day!

We did the holiday sing-a-long where the kids did a great job performing I’m a Little Snowman (video is on Class Dojo). We played the math game Top It, wrapped our gifts, and did a craft with our 3rd grade buddies! The party was so much fun and thank you to the parents who helped make it happen! The kids loved it!

Also, thank you so much for all the cards and gifts! Wow! It means so much! I am beyond blessed to work with such a great group of kids and their families! Thank you so much for the big basket of goodies and Riversong gift card! I am so excited!

Have a wonderful break and I will see the kiddos back on Thursday, January 4th!

Friday, December 1, 2017

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We did morning buzz. (Blake)

We went to art. We made a quilt made out of paper. We used crayons. (Joshua)

We did closing meeting and snack. (Britt)

We did Fundations. For Fundations we did our magnet boards. We had the guess the letter using Mrs. Hotchkiss’ clues. We had to move the letter down. (Carmel Grace and Dempsey) We worked on isolating beginning sounds. For example, I would say I am thinking of a letter and it is at the beginning of the word pizza, pepperoni, and pasta. This is a great game to play at home too! You can do the same game with middle or ending sounds!

We did math. We played a game with our number cards. We showed a number on our fingers for 3 seconds and our partner had to pick the number card up that was right.  (Russell and Dempsey)

We did writing. We kept working on our surprise. (Maclyn) I told the class to not give you all even one clue…parents are good guessers!

We watched Sid the Science Kid. We learned all the ways to be healthy. (AJ)

We did our poem. We put it in our poetry folders. (Isaac)

We did morning meeting. (Brooklynn)

After Daily 5, we got to choose 2 book box books to take home to read to our parents. They don’t stay at home we have to bring them back on Monday. (Emma)

Reading bags are coming home today! Please have your child read these 2 paper books to you sometime this weekend! We are practicing pointing to each word with our fingers. If they get stuck on a word, encourage them to check the picture and look at the first sound. Once they say a word, have them look at the letters and see it “looks right”, “sounds right”, and “makes sense” with the rest of the sentence/story. Once the students can show they are responsible and can bring their paper books back to school, I will start sending home reading group books that we have practiced together. These will come home every Friday and should be returned in the backpack every Monday! Thank you!

In the folder you will find information on the snowball shop, a behavior update, section 4 optional homework (we did lesson 4-1 today), and information on the ibelong drive.

Have a great weekend!
