Here is what we did today!

We did Brooklynn’s Me Bag. (AJ)

We played on the playground. (Sky and Wilson)

We read No David. (Brooklynn)

We did Brooklynn’s name cheer. (Emma)

We did our morning buzz. (Blake)

We wrote my name on the whiteboards. (Brooklynn)

We did music. (Madelynn and Landon)

We made our Yes, David puppets. (Dempsey and Xander)

We did Brooklynn’s name poster. (Maclyn)

We did pattern blocks at math time. (Carmel Grace)

We had fun at school. (Joshua)

We had lunch. (Sky)

We are doing closing meeting. (Landon)

We ate snack. (Brooklynn)

Same reminders from yesterday! I am leaving town for a wedding on tomorrow. There will be a substitute teacher from Wednesday – Friday and possibly the following Tuesday.  Her name is Mrs. Vizcarra. She is a wonderful teacher! Please call the office with any transportation changes on those days. There will not be any closing meeting notes sent home those days as well.

Picture day is next Wednesday the 6^th!

Grandparent’s Day is Friday the  8^th from 9-10 am. Your child can invite a grandparent or special friend to attend. If your child does not have someone who can attend please let me know so I can arrange for a guest to come.

We colored the book We Like School. (Madelynn) We added this book to our book boxes!

We did math workstations and morning meeting. (Maclyn)

We wrote Britt’s name on the whiteboards. (Brooklynn)

We read a book called David Goes to School. We sorted poor choices and good choices. (Wilson)

We had fun at school. (Joshua)

We did Britt’s name cheer. (AJ)

We did Britt’s Me bag. (Dempsey)

Just a reminder about library books! Library books will be returned every A day. This week library will be on Thursday. Please check the special calendar that I sent home on Meet the Teacher night. It is also posted on my website.

If your daughter is wearing a dress or skirt to school please make sure they have shorts on underneath. We often sit “criss cross” on the learning rug and this will prevent underwear from showing. Thank you!!

We read a book called Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten. (Maclyn)

We drew a picture of Mrs. Hotchkiss. (Madelynn) We started our Me Bags today! We learned about me and wrote my name on white boards. Then we started the first page of our name book!

We played with snap cubes. (Emma)

We did Mrs. Hotchkiss’ name cheer. She had pom poms! (Dempsey)

We went outside. We played on the blacktop. (Wilson and Landon)

We did Class Dojo points. (Emma)

Blue parent pick up signs (last names) went home with your student! Please make sure these are posted in your car window at pick up so the teachers can call out names. Thank you!

I put some extra eclipse activities in your child’s folder today! You do not have to return these to me. Please make sure you read over the “Me Bag” note from the folder on Friday. These start this week! Please turn in your child’s “Me” person ASAP so I can hang them up in the classroom!

I am also hanging family pictures outside of the classroom.

We sang the birthday song for Brooklynn. (Blake)

We practiced for the Eclipse. (Carmel Grace)

We read The Pout Pout Fish Goes to School in art class. (Maclyn)

My mom read a book to us. It was The Gingerbread Man Loose in School. (Brooklynn)

At the end of the day we had a closing meeting. I had the kids tell me, in their own words, what we did today! Here is what they said…

We did a happy birthday song on the Smartboard. It is Landon’s birthday. (Audylynn)

We played outside 2 times. (Isaac & Carmel Grace)

We lined up to go inside. (Blake)

We read The Kissing Hand. (Sky) This is a wonderful book about missing mom and dad while we are at school Ask your kiddo to tell you about The Kissing Hand and they might ask for you to give them one! You might need one in return! We also talked about how we are feeling: happy, scared, or sad.

We read How Will I Get to School This Year? (Blake)

We colored a picture of ourselves. (Ismael) This is in your student’s folder!

We played Doggie Doggie Where’s Your Bone? (Brooklynn) This is a great name practice game! Check out the fun video of the class playing on Class Dojo!

We had fun all day long in school. (Joshua)

We read Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come. (Emma)

We saw how much people will ride the bus, or Adventure Club, or walk to school, or parent pick up. (Emma) We did a transportation sort on the Smartboard. We counted how many kids in each group!

It was a wonderful first day! Look through your child’s folder and return the folder tomorrow in your child’s backpack!

Welcome 17-18 Kindergarten Parents!

Hello Kindergarten Families!!

My name is Vesta Hotchkiss and I will use this site to communicate with you on a daily basis! At the end of each day I will have a closing meeting with the Kindergartners. The kids will reflect upon the day by telling about what they learned and what we did at school! I will make a blog post and email the meeting notes to you!

I also use a classroom Twitter (@hotchkissmce) and Class Dojo to communicate with you! I love to post pictures of all the wonderful things we are doing in our classroom! Please follow our classroom Twitter for updates or view the posts on the right hand side of this site! I will post behavior updates and pictures on Class Dojo daily.
