Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We did read aloud. The book was about our insides. It was called Your Insides. It was a non-fiction book. (Rylan and Aster)

We had writing. For writing we did the picture for our book! (Abby)

We went to computer lab. We went to Jiji and Starfall. (Caroline) We did ST Math from the CPS Portal!

We had P.E. and we played soccer. (Azayla)

Mrs. Baker came. She talked about good people. There are a lot of good people all around the world. (Aster)

We did word games. (James)

We did Fundations. We learned “wh”. (Caroline)

We did the Zero the Hero Stomp and the calendar. (Evalynn)

We did Daily 5. We made choices. (Aiden and Parker)

Bring a Toy to School Celebration is tomorrow!

Our class earned another set of 100 Cougar Tickets! To celebrate, the class voted to have a “Bring Your Favorite Toy to School” party! We will be doing this tomorrow! Each student can bring one small toy to school. This could be a small bag of legos or blocks, an action figure, a doll, stuffed animal, toy car, etc. No toy weapons please! Students can bring an electronic toy (such as a DS or small tablet) if the sound can be turned off or headphones can be plugged in. Please make sure it is fully charged or has new batteries. Please do not send valuable electronic toys because these toys will be unsupervised at times (recess, specials, etc.) Students will have the opportunity to play with these items at specific points in the school day. They will only be allowed to play with the toy in the classroom setting (not bus line, etc.) Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you!

We had crazy hair day! (Azayla)

We did writing. We made a page for the real book! (Rylan)

At word games, some first grader teachers watched us! (Caroline)

We did math. We got dominoes. We looked at numbers on both sides and put them together. We put it on the tables to match the number. (Abby)

Will C. was the teacher assistant. (Evalynn)

We are doing a skeleton project. (Maya)

We did poem. It was called My Body. The word of the week is “yes”. (Hayden and Adalynn)

For read aloud we read a book called Skeletons, Skeletons. (Rose)

We did Fundations. On the smartboard we did “th” on Starfall. We did the vowel chart. We built some words. We tapped the words. (Caroline and Aster)

Here is what we did today!

We built a skeleton puzzle! (Abby)

Today was dress up like a book character. (Caroline)

We went to art. In art we finished our self-portraits. (James and Rose)

We did word games. We did a word family. (Maya and Will C.)

We did the calendar. (Parker)

Aster was the teacher assistant. (Hayden)

We did math. We had numbers on the floor. Mrs. Hotchkiss pulled name sticks. We got to roll the dice and if we got a minus sign we would jump back. If you got a plus sign you would jump forward. (Adalynn) Fun way to practice addition and subtraction while moving our bodies!

We are going to have play time. (Evalynn)

We had writing. In writing we got to work on our stories for our book. We got to fix things like backwards letters. (Aster)

We had Fundations. We learned sh. (Azayla and Adalynn)

We did morning meeting. (Abby and Alice)

We read a book about skeletons. It was called Bones. (Caroline and Rylan)

We did a brain break about bones. (Kent)

We had music. In music we played a game. (Aiden and James)

In project we are making a paper look like ourselves. We put popsicle sticks on the back to act like bones. (Aster)

At math today we did story problems on the smartboard and our whiteboards. We had to write the addition number sentence or the subtraction number sentence. (Caroline)

In Fundations learned that c and h put together makes a special sound. (Adalynn)

We did a GoNoodle. (Will C.)

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We are going to vote on how to celebrate 100 Cougar Tickets. (Abby) The kids picked another “bring a toy to school” party! We will celebrate this next Friday the 22^nd! More details to come.

The leprechaun came! He wrecked all our traps! (Rylan)

At math today we did a game with a cup. We had to put counters in the cup and leave some out. The other person had to guess what number is in the cup. They had to close their eyes and count to 10. (Caroline)

Today the leprechaun made messes! He wrote on the tables. He was in some paint and made footprints. He even made the toilet water green! (James)

Today was Will McCurry’s birthday. We had his birthday snack. We also did a taste test. (Evalynn)

We did whiteboards. We did a sentence. Mrs. Hotchkiss made mistakes and we had to write it the right way. (Maya)

We had P.E. We played a game where we had to dribble a basketball. We had to try and shoot it into the goal. (Aster)

We watched a little video about St. Patrick’s Day! (Azayla)

We had Fundations. We made words on our magnet boards. We pointed to each one and tapped it. It was so much fun! Mrs. Hotchkiss told a story about Baby Echo and big Echo. (Kent and Adalynn)

We did read aloud. The book was about how to catch a leprechaun. (Abby)

In the folder, please find the Student Treasures order form and fill it out! We are turning our “What do I want to be when I grow up” stories into a published class book! I have some examples in the classroom if you would like to see one. Every kid will write a story and draw a picture for the book. There is some fun optional homework in the folder today. We didn’t finish our five senses book so that is coming home. Encourage your student to finish it at home this weekend!

Our Tiger Bounce/HyVee Field Trip will be on Friday, April 19^th from 9:30-12 pm. Parents are invited and can attend free of charge. No siblings please. A note will come home next week! We did Mother Singers assembly. We got to sing with them too. (Aster)

We did math. We played Growing and Disappearing Train. You had a + or – dice and a number dice. (Xander and Kent)

We did word games. We did the roller coaster and chopping. We pounded out first sounds. (Parker and Caroline)

We have 100 Cougar Tickets! (Evalynn)

We had writing. For writing today we wrote a practice of what is going in our book. We are going to write the real one next week. (Hayden and Rose)

Currently our Tiger Bounce/HyVee field trip is scheduled for April 12^th. Because of an unexpected scheduling conflict, this date might be changing. We will let you know about the new day and time ASAP! Parents are invited on this field trip. Here is what we did today!

We went to art. We got to color a face. We used colored pencils and water. It turned into paint. (Maya and Caroline)

We had play time. (Azayla)

We did Fundations. For Fundations we did big cards and little cards. We did the vowel chart. We did white boards. We wrote words. (Hayden)

We did math. We did a new game called Teens Match It. Some cards had numbers on it and the others had ten frames. We got to flip it over and try and find a match. Whoever had the most matches at the end of the game wins. (Aster)

We did word games. We did the roller coaster game and choppers. (Evalynn)
