Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We had art.  We built castles out of geometric shapes.  (Anna and Rilen)

We watched the movie Rio and we got to eat popcorn.  We had regular and kettle corn. It was a funny movie. (Blair, Kate, and Lexie T.) This was to celebrate earning 100 cougar compliments!

We did math and in math we played a game where you put counters in a cup and put your hand over it so your partner can not see what the number was. (Emily) This game is to practice the part, part, whole model in math. If there is a missing part we talked about how we can use addition, subtraction, counting on, etc. to help us figure out what the missing part would be! We did a game with 4 counters in all and one with 5 in all. This is a great game to play at home too!

We had Fundations and we played Guess my Word. It was fun.  Two people got to choose the word and the rest of the class got to guess the word.  The words were “mom” and “see”. We also did the word family –og. (Lexie T. and Livi)

We did writing and we got to share our writing with our partners.  This wonderful writing will come home on Monday! The kids went through the entire process of planning and writing a personal narrative story! This includes a cover, title, dedication, opening sentence, beginning, middle, and end! The kids worked very hard on these stories! (Zain)

We had guest readers John and Brendan.  They read the book Super Fly Guy. (Riley)

Today in your child’s folder you will find a note about guided reading books come home next week and a list of reading strategies! Please look over these 2 things carefully! There is also a Scholastic book order and a spring picture order form. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Have a wonderful weekend!
