Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today:

Today we did something new in math. We were talking about the orders of numbers from yesterday with the dominos and cube towers. Today we were showing people’s thinking and we wrote them on the board. Kids came up to help with it. (Sylus)

We did writing. For writing it was special because we got to finish our final draft and it’s gonna go in a real life book! We worked our best and tried to do it our best. We had to make it exactly like our practice one which was our rough draft. (Sophia)

We did the assembly. There were people dancing and singing on the stage. They are called Mother Singers. We got to watch a couple of their songs. There was someone dressed up as the Genie and one person dressed up like Aladdin. The Genie flung the monkey on the stage. The Mother Singers traveled to schools for 70 years! They sang one of our morning meeting songs in sign language. (Layla and Evan)

We did Daily 5. (Logan)

We did our poem. We wrote 2 more lines of our poem. Friends got to come up and help write letters and words in the poem. (Andrew)

Mrs. Hotchkiss read a book to us. It was called Chick Life Cycle. We learned a lot about chicks in there. And we got to eat our snack. (Ginger)

We did morning job. We wrote in our chick journals and we glued the picture of the eggs. We wrote more about the chicks. (Kate)

It was the 137th day in school! (Dylan)

We are going on a field trip to Columbia College tomorrow to see a play. We are leaving in the morning so please make sure your child gets to school on time! Thanks!

Have a great Thursday!

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today:

We did math. We sorted dominoes from 2 to 12. And then we got groups and we had dominoes. We got cubes. We made towers with the cubes and we put the domino by the tower. Then we would use 2 different colors to build the tower. (Ginger and Sylus)

We did writing. We drew our picture for our final draft. We had a practice one and then we used it to help us with our final draft. We used markers. (Kate and Lyrik and Kymiah)

We did P.E. We had stations. We had 7 stations instead of 4 stations. We got to do all of them. She put on music for us. (Sophia)

We did our poem. We wrote 2 more lines. (Evan)

We had a creativity lesson. We made a book with stickers and other things. We used a brown paper bag for the book. (Andrew)

We did snack. Mrs. Hotchkiss read the book From Egg to Chicken. Mrs. Hotchkiss showed what was in the pretend eggs to show us what the chicks look like in the eggs right now. (Layla)

We did morning job. For morning job we sorted the words in the –un and –ug word families. (Sophia)

Tomorrow is the last day to turn in order forms for our class book! We will be finishing the final draft illustration and sending everything in to be published.

Thanks!! Have a great night!

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today:

The chicks came today! They are in the incubator. There are 12 eggs. The incubator will keep the eggs warm because it’s 101 degrees in there. (Layla)

We did our chick journals. We got to write something today. We got to write about what happened today. We got to pick out 2 pictures to put in our journals. (James)

We did writing. For writing we did our final draft of our writing words into our class book! And we got to do it very nice. (Sophia)

We did Daily 5. (Logan)

We did art. For art we got to go outside. Outside we got to go around the animal grass and to the benches. We got to write stuff on boards. (Max)

We did our poem. We wrote another line. Now it says, “Peck peck peck on the soft white egg.” (Andrew)

We did our intruder drill. We practiced. We walked outside. If there was a real intruder we would go farther past the sidewalk. (Ginger)

We did Fundations. We wrote on an egg. We wrote words with the “ch”. We hung it up by a chick on the wall. (Kate)

For morning buzz we did something a little different. We asked questions about chicks. Miss Tappana will look up the questions later. It was fun! (Andrew and Lyrik)

We did snack. Mrs. Hotchkiss showed us a picture of the girl putting the eggs in the incubator. She wrote in her chick journal and so she put a picture in her journal and wrote something. (Lyrik)

We are submitting the final drafts for our published class book on Thursday. If you have an order form in your child’s folder today, please check yes or no on the form so we know if you want a book or not. They will be turned in by Thursday! Thanks so much!

We did snack. Mrs. Hotchkiss read about a lot of animals that lay eggs. Other animals can lay eggs. (Layla)

We did music. For music we threw our scarves and tried to catch them. We read a book in music and watched a movie about it. (Lyrik)
