Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We had Brynn’s birthday snack. It was chocolate oatmeal cookies. Everyone got one, even Mrs. Hotchkiss! (Anders and Evie)

We had closing meeting. (Evie)

We had math. We played Counters in a Cup with 8 cubes. (Eshan)

We made a person that looked like us. We are learning about our bones. To make the body stand up we used Popsicle sticks. We put them on the back with glue. Our bones give us structure. If we don’t have bones we are floppy like paper. (Yahna)

We did the poem called My Body. (Kayleigh)

We had Fundations. We wrote in our Fundations notebooks capital Y and Z. We drew pictures to go with it. (Elizabeth)

We did writing. We did our How To books. We did steps 5 and 6. When you were done with your book you could share with a partner. After you shared with a partner you could share it with a different partner. (Sophia and Brynn)

We had Daily 5. We have one after closing meeting. (Abigail)

We had library. Ms. V was there because our other library teacher was gone. We got to do ABCya or MyOn. (Sophia)

We had sports day. We got to wear your favorite sport. (Brendan and Anders)

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We did math. We played Counters in a Cup with 7 cubes. (Eshan)

We had art. We are learning about textures. We drew circles and we put textures on them. We folded it like a book and on the other side we put a self-portrait or a castle. (Elizabeth)

We went to the computer lab. We played a game on the computer and you had to solve the puzzle. Something was missing and you had to pick the right one that fit the puzzle. (Yahna) There is a note in your child’s folder about this testing!

We read a book. We read a book called Skeletons, Skeletons. It was about bones and all different kinds of skeletons. (Brendan)

We did writing. For writing we did our How To books. We did steps 3 and 4. (Serenity and Brynn)

We had closing meeting and snack. (Kiernan)

We did Daily 5. The last one we got to pick whatever we wanted. (Sophia)

We got to wear bare feet in the classroom except we had to wear socks. We almost got to wear them for the whole day. (Sophia)

We had Counselor and played a game to learn how to be a good friend. (Yahna)

We went to Music and sang a song with instruments. (Serenity)

We had Fundations and wrote a capital Y and a capital Z on our whiteboards. (Elizabeth)

In math we played a game called “On and Off” using 7 cubes where we did addition number sentences. (Sophia)

We had Daily 5 where we have 2 choices. We get to do one more after music. (Anders)

Tomorrow the kids can take off their shoes in the classroom! Please make sure your student has socks! Shoes will be required for recess. Thank you!!

We did writing. We worked on our How To books. We made a list of things we need. (Eshan and Brynn)

We had a special project in the hallway. They were rainbow paper chains. They are hanging up in the hallway now. (Elizabeth)

We did math. We played Double Compare. It was harder today because the cards were bigger numbers. (Yahna)

Today we got to dress up as what we want to be when we grow up. Tomorrow is PJ day and you can bring a stuffed animal. (Sophia and Maggie)

We had Daily 5. We had 2 choices. (Anders)

We had P.E. We played Hot Foot and we stretched. We played Cone Basketball. You try to knock the balls off the cones. (Pricila and Anders)

We did the Zero the Hero Stomp. We have been in school 130 days. (Sophia)

We had our poem called My Body. Our word for the week is “yes”. (Abigail)

We did a book that talked about our bodies. The book was called Skeletons and Muscles. (Bennett and Addison)

We celebrated my birthday at school. (Eshan)

For snack, Eshan brought cinnamon rolls. (Nick)

We did Fundations. We wrote W and X in our Fundations notebook. We did small cards and big cards. We wrote W and X on the Smartboard. We did the vowel chart. (Yahna)

We did read aloud. It was called My Body. It told us about our bones and our insides and all about our bodies. (Sophia)

We had snack and closing meeting with Eshan’s birthday snack. (Maggie)

We had math. We played Double Compare. The challenge today was to say the addition number sentence. Both kids flip over 2 cards and it has dots. Whoever has the most takes all of the cards and puts it at the bottom of their deck. (Kiernan)

We did writing. We did our Monday News. (Sophia)

Tomorrow is dress like your future career day! I am excited to see what the kids choose to wear!

Here is what we did today!

We are doing closing meeting and snack. We had a special snack it was shamrock cookies. During play time we can look for the leprechaun or build a trap! (Elizabeth)

We learned about rainbows and we made a fruit loops necklace and we got to eat it. The colors were in rainbow order. (Evie)

We did math. We played Double Compare. How you play is you split the deck of cards. You flip over 2 cards and whoever has more you say “me”. You say which number is bigger than the other number. (Yahna)

We did writing. We got to make a plan about how we are going to catch the leprechaun. (Sophia)

We did art. We did sculptures. We did a texture tour outside. (Abigail)

We did lunch and recess. (Madison)

We did our poem. We got to highlight the word “am”. We did it at the carpet first. (Yahna)

We watched a video about St. Patrick’s Day. (Landon and Mila)

We read a book Looking For Leprechauns. At the end of the story the leprechaun led the kids to the pot of gold. (Sophia)

When we came in from recess there was green in the toilet from the leprechaun and there was green footprints. (Eshan and Brynn)

Here is what we did today!

We did math. We played Part Whole Bingo. We had a different partner. You have 2 dice and you roll the dice and whatever 2 numbers you get you fill up the tower or you can split it up. If you can’t fill the whole tower you have to roll again. (Yahna)

We read a book called Leprechaun on the Loose. Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day! And that is why we read it! (Sophia)

We had Fundations and we practiced writing on our Fundations boards capital W and X. (Elizabeth)

We had Daily 5. We did 2 choices. Yahna taught Kayleigh how to do Listening to Reading. We are going to do 2nd choice after closing meeting and snack. (Maggie, Sophia, and Yahna)

We had morning meeting. We got white boards. We said “Today we have music class.” On the whiteboards we had to find the wrong things that Mrs. Hotchkiss did. We found all of them! We had math workstations. (Anders)

We did writing. We made a list of How To book ideas. (Kiernan)

We had lunch and recess. (Mila)

We did our poem called Big, Bad, Cold. Kids came up to point to the words. We talked about using word parts to help us read. (Andy and Evie)

We had music. We have been working on a musical. Soon we are going to go up on a stage and we have parts and we all get to do a song together. (Sophia)

We had our new student Kayleigh today. Some kids were her buddies. (Elizabeth) Welcome Kayleigh!!

We did Fundations. We wrote the letters U and V. We wrote them in our Fundations notebook. We colored our pictures. We did small cards and big cards and the vowel chart. (Yahna)

We had Daily 5. We got to do 2 choices. Elizabeth got to help Kayleigh. (Brendan)

We did math. We played a new math game called Part Whole Bingo. You rolled 2 dice and you put the 2 numbers together to see what you have. You cover the whole row with the number or split it into parts. (Sophia)

We had closing meeting and snack. (Pricila)

We did P.E. We played Guard Your Pin. How you play is you roll the ball and try to get the other person’s pin. When it knocks over you have to go on the wall and hold it and run one lap. (Landon and Keirnan)

We had morning meeting and we did white boards. I showed Kayleigh around the room. (Yahna)

We had morning meeting and we did calendar and days in school reporter. (Evie)

We had writing. We got to share with a partner what we are going to make for our how to books. We got to write on the smartboard our ideas. (Sophia)

We did recess and lunch. (Mila)

We had our 3rd grade buddies. We went to their classroom. We made a leprechaun pot of gold. We did the rainbow colors connected to the handle. (Elizabeth and Brynn)

We did our poem called the Big Bad Cold. Friends came up and pointed to the words with the pointer. This is our longest poem we have ever done. (Yahna)

We read a book called Germs Make Me Sick. We read it on the Smartboard. We got to look at germs on the Smartboard. They were real germs. (Sophia)

We made 2 Daily 5 choices. (Serenity)

We did Fundations. We did U and V. (Landon)

We did writing. We learned about How To books. We went on the Smartboard and Mrs. Hotchkiss called on people to make a list of things we know how to do. You have to teach someone how to do that. (Yahna)

We are going to have a new student tomorrow. Her name is Kayleigh. (Sophia)

We did writing. We wrote Monday News. I wrote about getting my new red shoes. (Kiernan)

We did music. We had a turtle race. We were playing a song while the turtle raced. It made a do do do sound at the end. If another turtle went too late or too early you were out. We worked on songs for a play. We made a line and spoke into a pretend microphone. (Nick)

Here is what we did today!

We had Sophia’s birthday and we had her snack. It was cookies and apples. (Kiernan and Sophia)

We had Ms. Jackie come to our class. She told us how to keep our teeth healthy. (Sophia)

We had math. We had a problem. We had to figure out how many red and blue crayons could be in the crayon box. We had to figure out ways to make 6. (Yahna)

We had P.E. We played battleship. The west side won 2 times in a row. (Serenity, Nick, and Elizabeth)

We watched Sid the Science kid about teeth. It was about why you want to brush your teeth. (Madison and Yahna)

We had writing. We finished our first, next, and last story. We added more words, speech bubbles, and how we felt. (Addison)

Here is what we did today!

We had Elizabeth’s dad come and he taught us a lesson about teeth. Elizabeth dressed up like a tooth fairy. They did a puppet show. We had pillowcases with teeth drawn on them. Four people came up and put the pillowcases on and stood shoulder to shoulder. They looked like teeth. Some people came up and brushed and flossed them. We did math. We played on On and Off. We had whiteboards. We made combinations of 6. No matter what the answer is always 6 because you have 6 cubes. (Yahna)

We had counselor. We learned about the “do not touch” rule. No one is allowed to touch your private parts unless it is to keep you healthy. (Kiernan and Addison) A letter is in your child’s folder about the lesson.

We did read aloud. We read Moose’s Loose Tooth. (Kiernan and Landon)

We had library. We went on ABCya.com. We went on ST Math. We were going to go on Monkey Jump but it didn’t work. (Sophia)

Here is what we did today!

We had guest readers. They were Sophia’s mom and Nick’s mom and Mr. Hotchkiss and Grandpa Hotchkiss. The books we read were Green Eggs and Ham, My Many Color Days, Are You My Mother?, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and Cat in the Hat. (Yahna)

My mom is good at tongue twisters! (Nick)

We made Cat in the Hat hats. While we were waiting for Mrs. Hotchkiss to put them around own heads we had a Cat in the Hat packet. (Elizabeth)
