Here is what we did today!

We went to music-Evie

PIE (Partners in Education) came to our class-Nick These people explained their role in the community and then explained how they help our school!

Mrs. Rawlings came to read us a book-Elizabeth She talked to the class about our word of the year: Effort!

We had two recesses-Brendan

We did Work on Writing in Daily 5-Sophia

We worked on Math work stations-Kiernan

We met Elizabeth’s mom-Addison She helped our class create a fun story for our raffle basket!

We had lunch-Lexi

We drew pictures of our houses-Mila We are working on our One and Only Me books! Today we talked about adding labels to our pictures.

We played on the blacktop and the wood chips-Yahna

We are having snack-Madison

We watched a movie in music class-Serenity

We had education time with Echo-Abigail This is a program called Fundations. It is our word study time. We will be learning letters, letter sounds, handwriting formation, etc. Echo the owl is a puppet who helps the kids remember the letters and sounds!

Here is what we did today!!

We went to library. We played on the computers. We got new books. (Addison and Nick)

We finished our name books. (Mila)

It was my birthday. (Elizabeth)

Nurse Shannon came. We talked about germs. She put special lotion on our hands. We washed them and sang our ABC’s. We looked in a box to see if they were clean. (Sophia)

We did math workstations. (Kiernan)

We watched a video about germs. It was Sid the Science Kid. (Yahna and Addison)

We had Elizabeth’s birthday snack. (Evie)

We are going to have some play time. (Bennett)

We had lunch and recess. (Addison)

We did a germs packet from Nurse Shannon. (Anders)

We did shapes. We talked about if the 3D shape can roll or if it can stack. (Sophia)

We got new jobs and talked about our 5 rules. (Sophia)

Thank you for all the gift card donations!! I will be gone tomorrow but Mrs. Cockrell will be subbing!

Fun Fest Baskets

The deadline for donations will be pushed to next Wednesday the 28th since there is no school Monday! If you would like to send in a gift card for our ‘Gift Cards Galore” basket we would very much appreciate it! Thank you if you have already turn one (or 2) into me!

We got Class Dojo points. (Elizabeth) This is a new communication tool I am trying with our class! I am able to communicate positive and negative behaviors at a moment by moment basis. I am also able to take pictures of kids and post it to their story board so you can see pictures of just your child. It is really neat! Use the note and passcode sent home in the folder tonight to access your child’s account. There is also an app you can download! We will see if we like it! www.classdojo.com

Mrs. Hotchkiss read a book called Understand and Care. We talked about empathy. (Yahna and Anders)

PJ PARTY!!

We hit our goal of 100 Cougar Compliments!! To celebrate, we will be having a special Pajama Day Friday, September 16th. Your child may wear his/her pajamas all day!  Please make sure that your child is wearing school-appropriate pajamas and tennis shoes, since we will have recess outside. Please do not send house slippers with your child to school, as they are not safe for playing on the playground.

Your child is welcome to bring a small stuffed animal as well (the toy must fit inside his or her backpack and have the ability to turn any noisemakers off).

We had our 3rd grade buddies come. We read a book together. They interviewed us. (Elizabeth, Nick, and Yahna)

We had lunch. We went outside. It was hot! (Andy and Bennett)

We went to music. We did a Toody Ta song. We did a sleeping bunny song. (Mila, Maggie, and Kiernan)

We did Elizabeth’s Me Bag. We wrote her name. (Andy)

Friday is our Grandparent’s Day event! We are doing a special family tree project with our grandparents from 9-10 am. If a grandparent is not able to make it, then a special friend or family member (like aunt, uncle, neighbor, etc.) is welcome to come in their place. Please let me know if your child will not have someone attend the event so I can find an adult for them!

Here is what we did today!

We went to library. We practiced logging on the computers. (Elizabeth)

We made an “I Can” speech bubble. We put a good choices inside of it. (Yahna)

We had Daily 5. We practiced Read to Self. (Andy) This is during our reading workshop time. Students are working on building their reading stamina. We read out of our book boxes for 3 minutes today! They learned that they can read the words or the pictures.

We made our face! (Madison)

We went on a circle hunt. (Sophia)

For math we turned a circle into something else. (Mila)

We are having snack. (Kiernan)

We had lunch and recess. (Addison)

We did a project. We had no me bag. (Bennett and Andy)

We read No David. We did a sort for poor choices and good choices. We did one on the Smartboard and one at our tables. (Anders)

TONIGHT  is our “get the scoop” night open house! It is from 4:30-6 pm. Kindergarten will have a school scavenger hunt for you to do with your student! We hope you can come!

TOMORROW I will have a sub again. There is a Back to School assembly outside in the morning. Please have your child bring a towel to sit on. They may also wear sunglasses or a hat to school.
