Here is what we did today!

We did P.E. We did basketball and other stations. (Isaac)

We did writing. For writing today we wrote stories about when we were little. Mrs. Hotchkiss read us a book called When I was Little. (Maclyn)

We did Fundations. We wrote the letters E and F. (Russell)

We are doing closing meeting and snack. (Ismael)

We did math. We played a game called Guess My Rule. Mrs. Hotchkiss would pick a sorting rule. She would call on kids that had something the same. We would raise our hands and try to guess the rule. (AJ, Carmel Grace, and Dempsey)

We did read aloud. We read book called The Pledge of Allegiance. We got a paper book called The Pledge of Allegiance. (Brooklynn)

We did the weather. (Joshua)

We did the poem. It was called American Flag. We tried to find the rhyming pair. We clapped syllables. (Britt and Dempsey)

mARCH 21- cRAZY HAIR DAY-Be creative with your hair, but remember that what you do to your hair must me worn all day. 

mARCH 22 -dRESS AS YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL DAY

mARCH 24-dISNEY dAY-Let your inner Disney out for the day. 

All items worn must be school appropriate (no masks or face paint) and must be worn for the entire day.

Here is what we did today!

We did art. We made these things called pinch pots. We made a fish or a dragon. We had to make a ticket and we put it inside of the mouth. (Maclyn)

We did Makerspace. We drew a picture. (Isaac)

We did math. We talked about 3D shapes and watched a video. (Joshua)

We did morning buzz. (Britt)

We did read aloud. It was called Sweet Land of Liberty. (Brooklynn)

We did the poem. It was called American Flag. We learned about the flag. (Ismael)

Tomorrow we are going to have a substitute. We are going to make an American Flag. (Dempsey)  The Kindergarten teachers have an all-day training tomorrow. Ms. Vizcarra will be subbing for me. The class had her in the fall for a few days! She is great! If your student has a change in transportation please call the office. There will not be a daily email sent home tomorrow.

Here is what we did today!

We are celebrating Audylynn’s birthday. Tomorrow she invited us to Tiger Bounce. (Ismael)

We did math. We learned about 3D shapes. You can hold them and they are not flat like the 2D shapes. They were sphere, rectangular prism, pyramid, cube, cylinder, and cone. We had to put our shape in the right pile. (Maclyn)

We did writing. We wrote about our lives. We wrote about things we do before school, after school, and bedtime. (Isaac)

We did Daily 5. It was a short Daily 5. (Blake)

We did music. We played a game where you have to know the month you were born in. (Dempsey)

We did the calendar. (Britt)

We did Fundations. We learned the capitals C and D. We wrote them on our whiteboards. (Madelynn)

We did read aloud. We watched a video about American symbols. They were the bald eagle, Statue of Liberty, the American flag, and the Liberty Bell. (Brooklynn and Carmel Grace)

We also talked about the White House and Mount Rushmore. (Demspey and Wilson)

The blue bird is a Missouri symbol. We talked about the Missouri flag. (Wilson and Ismael)

Abraham Lincoln is on the 5 dollar bill and he has a statue. He died. (Ismael and AJ)

Reading bags are coming home today as well. Please make sure these are returned on Monday! I had several bags not make it back this week! Sadly, with the crazy week, the students did not get new books. We had too many other things planned and Daily 5 had to be shortened each day. I ask the student to pick out their own books from their book boxes to bring home each week so hopefully they are bringing home different books each time!

Next Friday, March 2nd we will be doing a Dr. Seuss celebration. If you have a favorite Dr. Seuss book (Green Eggs and Ham is taken) and you would like to be a guest reader, please reply to this email! We will have guest readers scheduled throughout the day so I can be flexible with time of day.

Here is what we did today!

We did P.E. We built a castle out of hula hoops. We had to throw balls at the other team. We were trying to knock it down. (Ismael)

We made our own lanterns for Chinese New Year. (Isaac)

We celebrated Chinese New Year. They celebrate for 15 days. The lucky color is red. (Emma)

We ate dumplings and we made paper lanterns that were red. (Maclyn)

Mrs. Baker our counselor came. She talked about the no touch rule. No one can touch anywhere your swimsuit covers unless they are trying to keep you healthy. Her puppy puppet told us a story. We had a fun time with Mrs. Baker. (Dempsey) There is a letter in your child’s folder explaining this lesson!

Spirit day is this Friday, February 23^rd! Students may go back in time to dress like their favorite decade. Your child may dress as the decade of their choice (we will not be doing the same decade for the whole class). Students may not wear masks or carry props. Attire worn to school must be appropriate for learning, and will be worn for the entire day

Please make sure reading bags and books are returned on Tuesday! There is a brand new Valentine’s book in the bag that has never been read. This is a great book for practicing word decoding strategies!

We did math. We had a game board with 16 hearts. We used heart candies and whoever took the last candy off the board would lose the game. You took turns taking away 2 or 1. (Maclyn)

We did the weather. It was cloudy. It is sunny now. We recorded the weather. I am the weather reporter. (Wilson)

We did music. We sang songs and danced to the songs. There was a days of the week song. (Carmel Grace)

We made a mouth with teeth out of marshmallows. (Isaac) We talked about ways to keep our teeth healthy and practiced flossing these teeth with string!

Mrs. Hotchkiss read us a book. It was called Tooth Trouble. (Madelynn)

We did math. We went to the computer lab and did ST Math. Close to the end we played Starfall. (Maclyn)

We did writing. We wrote in a tooth book. (Britt and Dempsey) The students have this book in their reading bag so they can read it to you think weekend!

We did Cougar of the Week and I was Cougar of the Week! (Dempsey)

Our class was recorded doing the pledge of allegiance for KOMU back in the fall. This will air tomorrow on the morning news! Typically in the last few minutes. If you miss it, it should be available in a few days on the KOMU website.

We did project. It was a groundhog. We used a black piece of paper for the shadow. We used brown paper for the hole. The groundhog pops out of the top. (Maclyn)

We watched a video of the groundhog. He saw his shadow. It means 6 more weeks of winter. (Dempsey)

In the folder you will find a Social Growth and Work Habits report. Please look this over, discuss it with your child, initial at the bottom, and return it to school in the folder on Tuesday.

Reading bags are also coming home today! Please let your child read these books to you this weekend. These books and bags need to be returned to school on Tuesday so the kids have the books for Daily 5 reading time. They do not have new reading group books this week because I am doing assessments to prepare for PTC. Hopefully new books will be coming home in 2 weeks!

You will also find a Parent Teacher Conference schedule. Please let me know ASAP if you need a different time.

Please fill out the pre-conference survey as soon as you can and return it in the folder. This will help me prepare for our conference time together.
