Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today!

We walked around the school and we went to every kindergarten class to do a 100 activity. It was fun! (Blair)

Our class did 100 exercises! (Cordae)

We went to P.E. (Livi)

In Miss Reinkemeyer’s class we had 100 things to play with. We had 5 minutes at each station. We did a breathing game on GoNoodle. (Kate and Adeline)

In Mrs. Winn’s class. We made puzzles. I made a great puzzle! (Brock)

With Mrs. Litteken we had to make something out of the number 100. (Emily)

In Mrs. Flanagin’s class we had to find numbers around the classroom. If we found it we colored the number in on our paper. (Rilen)

In Mrs. Russo’s class we did a racing game to try to get to 100. If you win you color in the number. We had partners. If you roll the dice you have to color the number in. It was called Race to 100. (Kamri and Aidin)

In the folder you will find many important things! I sent home behavior updates, a 100 day note, A Valentine’s note, and February family homework. Please make sure and look over all of these things this weekend and please let me know if you have any questions!!

Here is what we did today!!

We did music. There was a song called Old Navy. (Brooke and Emily)

We did writing. We did stories about our lives. We planned to get ready to write. We drew pictures of what we did first, next, and last. (Livi and Kamri)

We got to retell The Mitten with a partner with our puppets and mitten. Miss Miller did it first. It was fun. (Kate, Anna and Adeline)

We did tapping. We did words in the –op word family. (Zain)

We did math. For math we talked about same and different. We had bags to look at with partners and we said what was same and different. (Lexie T.) They also recorded their thinking on a recording sheet and shared it with the class!

Hi Parents

Miss Miller read a book called The Mitten. We acted it out. (Brooke and Adeline)

We used a mitten and we put the animals in the mitten to tell the story. (Livi)

We are going to have an early release. (Kate)

We did Fundations. We made a list of word that ended in the –in sounds. (Aidin)

We wrote some word wall words on cards. We will read word wall words from our book boxes when it is Daily 5. At Daily 5, when it is Read to Self or Read to Someone we can play My pile, Your pile, Our pile or you can just read them to yourself. (Rilen, Emily, Lexie T.)

We wrote things that are the same and things that are different for hedgehogs and porcupines. We did this because we couldn’t tell if it was a hedgehog or porcupine in The Mitten. (Kamri)

We did tapping. (Zain)

On the Fundations boards we wrote Q and R. (Cordae)

Miss Miller read The Mitten story again. We got to act it out. It was fun! (Blair, Lexie T., and Cordae)

We did tapping. We wrote down words that ended in the –ag sounds on a flag. (Zain and Riley)

We went to library. In library we got new books and went into the media lab. (Emily)

We did math workstations and it was fun! (Rilen)

The letters that we did for Fundations were P and 0. (Lexi B.)

For math we drew pictures of lunch foods. We got to sort by healthy and not healthy. (Kate)

We did Daily 5. (Aidin)

We got to finish coloring The Mitten animals and glue them to our sticks. (Kamri)

Tomorrow is an Early Release Day! Students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm. Please let me know if there will be a transportation change ASAP!

The 100th Day of School is quickly approaching!  Currently, the 100th Day of School is scheduled for Monday, February 2nd. On this day each student will create his/her own special snack of with 100 pieces of food (like a trail mix).  Please sign up on the Google Doc if you would like to help with food! Here is what we did today!

We did Monday News. We wrote about something we did over the weekend. (Emily and Adeline)

We went to P.E. We did 3 games. (Livi and Rilen)

We did math workstations. (Aidin)

We did Daily 5. We got to pick our choices. It was fun! (Kate and Anna)

Miss Miller read The Mitten. In the story all of the animals climbed into Nikki’s mitten. It got very fat. (Blair)

We started an activity with The Mitten. We colored the animals. We are going to put the animals in the mitten! (Kamri)

For Fundations we did O and P on the Fundations boards. We did our cards. (Lexie T.)

Wednesday is an Early Release Day! Students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm. Please let me know if there will be a transportation change ASAP!

The 100th Day of School is quickly approaching!  Currently, the 100th Day of School is scheduled for Monday, February 2^nd.

As a part of our day, our class will be creating a “100th Day Museum.” Please have your child bring a collection of 100 things to school on Monday, February 2nd.  The collection needs to be small enough for your child to carry to school.  Some examples might include 100 paperclips, cotton balls, pennies, cereal pieces, ribbons, beads, toothpicks, pencils, playing cards, etc.  Let your child use his/her imagination to come up with a unique, one of a kind collection. 

Our class will be displaying their collections on the 100th Day of School during math.           

In addition, on the 100th Day of School each student will create his/her own special snack of with 100 pieces of food (like a trail mix).  I went ahead and made a Google Doc sign up for the food items! Please sign up if you can help!

Here is what we did today!

We did music. In music, we did What Does The Fox Say? Then we did the I Am a Princess song. We also did a song called Play it Mr. Toot. (Cordae and Anna)

We got to bring electronics and toys. We celebrated 100 Cougar Compliments. (Livi and Kate)

We did writing workshop. We shared our Peter books because we finished all 6 pages. The last page was Peter put the snowball in his pocket. (Lexie T. and Blair)

We did Daily 5. We did some review. We got to make our choices on the choice chart on the SmartBoard. (Emily and Adeline)

We did Fundations. We did M and N. We did the vowel chart, big cards, little cards, and tapping. (Aidin, Rilen, and Kamri)

We had my special birthday snack. (Zain)

We read a book. It had animals that live in the snow. It’s called Where Snowflakes Fall. (Randy and Lexie T.)

We did our last page of our Snowy Day retelling book. On this page Peter put the snowball in his pocket. (Blair)

We did math. In math we showed our thinking in our math journals. (Aidin) We talked about showing how many of each kind of pattern block using pictures, numbers, or words. We shared some different ways to represent math thinking on paper.

We did Days in School. We wrote the date and days in school on the white boards. (Kamri)

We are having cocoa night tonight. We will be doing a scavenger hunt in the classroom with our parents. It is from 5-6:30 p.m. (Brock and Blair)

We did Fundations. We got to echo with Baby Echo and Echo the Owl. (Kate)

Tomorrow is our “Bring a Toy to School Celebration”!

Our class earned another set of 100 Cougar Compliments! Each student is allowed to bring one small toy to school this day. This could be a small bag of legos or blocks, an action figure, a doll, stuffed animal, toy car, etc. No toy weapons please! Students are allowed to bring an electronic toy (such as a DS) as long as the sound can be turned off. Please make sure it is fully charged or has new batteries. Please do not send valuable electronic toys because these toys will be unsupervised at times (recess, specials, etc.) Students will have the opportunity to play with these items at specific points in the school day. They will only be allowed to play with the toy in the classroom setting (not bus line, etc.) Please let me know if you have any questions!

Miss Miller came today! She is another teacher. She has to stay the whooooooole day at school. (Livi and Rilen) Chelsea Miller is a MU Early Childhood Education teacher in our classroom this semester. She is looking forward to meeting you at Cocoa Night this Thursday!

We had math. We played Racing Bears. We had a partner. It was fun! (Kate, Anna, and Adeline)

We read My Uncle Martin’s Big Heart. It was by Martin’s niece. (Kamri)

We read a book called Young Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream”. (Crimson)

We did P.E. We had to switch stations. They were cool stations. (Cordae)

Don’t forget about our Cocoa Night Open House this Thursday! There will be hot chocolate and cookies in the cafeteria. There will be a fun scavenger hunt in the classroom. The event will go from 5-6:30 pm. Please feel free to pop in at any time.

We got to play a new game where we got to pass the bear and say the number that comes next and if you forget the number you sit down. We counted to 140 together! (Kate and Cordae)

We got to sleep in because it was really cold. We get to do it tomorrow too! (Lexie T.)

Message from CPS Website: Due to the weather forecast and concern with negative degree temperatures and wind chill, Columbia Public Schools will have a late start tomorrow, Thursday, January 8.

The additional time will allow us to make sure the diesel bus fleet is ready for morning routes.

As a reminder, the late start schedule for all schools is available on our Web site here:  http://www.cpsk12.org/Page/9995   School bus pick-up times will be two hours later than the original time.  Dismissal times do not change.

Here is what we did today!

We celebrated my birthday! We had fruit snacks. It was Aidin’s brother’s, Nate and Jack’s, birthday too! (Aidin and Anna)

We did math. We wrote how many kids there were in the class. We showed our thinking. (Lexi B., Randy, and Zain)

We did a game called Missing Numbers and we did math workstations. (Brock and Emily)

We did music. In music, we listened to the song What Does the Fox Say? (Lexie T. and Kamri)

There is a late start for school tomorrow. (Kate)

We did morning meeting. (Tristan)

We read a book called Snowballs. (Randy and Brooke)

We wrote on a paper balloon. (Livi) The kids wrote about their New Year’s Resolutions! These will be on display in the hallway very soon.

Due to the weather forecast and concern with negative degree temperatures and wind chill, Columbia Public Schools will have a late start tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7. 

Students may enter the building starting at 10:05 and classes will begin at 10:20.  We will start the day with our normal routines and schedules.  Kindergarten students will still eat lunch at 10:30.  School will dismiss at the normal time. As a reminder, the late start schedule for all schools is available on the CPS Website here:  http://www.cpsk12.org/Page/9995

Here is what we did today!

We did Monday News. We could write about anything we did over the break. (Brooke and Emily)

I got to share my writing. (Kamri)

We did art. We made tea cups. (Blair)

We did morning meeting. (Pritish)

We did a math game called Racing Bears. We had a partner. We worked together to get all 4 bears to 10. After you got to 10, you could take the cube and put another cube from your bag at the top. You try to collect all of the cubes. (Livi, Adeline, Anna, Brock, and Lexi B.)

We heard a book called Frozen Noses. (Crimson)

We did Daily 5. (Kamri)

We did math workstations. (Aidin)

We did Fundations. For Fundations, we got to write on the Fundations boards and we got to tap. (Kate)
