Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today (according to the few children left in my classroom after the party! Haha)!

We did our sing along. (Hayden) The video is on Class Dojo!

Every class sang a Christmas song. (Aster)

We did our picture frame project. (Parker) In the folders!

We made a little hand elf with our 4th grade buddies. (Aster)

We watched a Pete the Cat Christmas video. (Hayden)

We got to take home a Build a Bear from Alice! (Caroline)

We did our letter to Santa. (Hayden)

We had a party! Some parent came. We did candy cane fishing and snowball toss! (Aster) So much fun! Big thank you to Dee for organizing and to all the parents who helped!

We did math workstations. (Rose)

We had library. (Hayden)

We are having closing meeting with 5 kids! (Aster)

We did snack at the party. We made a reindeer and we got to eat it! (Parker) 

Thank you SO much for the class gift!! It is so generous!! I can’t wait to use the gift cards! Thank you for all the wonderful presents and cards. I appreciate them all very much! I am so thankful to get to work with your kids every day and feel so blessed to have so many wonderful families! Merry Christmas!! See everyone back on the 3^rd!

We are making gingerbread houses! We put on icing and candy. (Maya and Azayla)

We did math. We counted by 10’s. We played Count Around the Circle. (Hayden and Evalynn)

We watched the movie The Polar Express. (James)

We did Fundations. (Abby)

We read The Polar Express. (Caroline)

We had hot chocolate and cookies! (Alice)

We did our calendar. (Maya)

We did Daily 5. (Rose)

Henry is our teacher assistant. (Azayla)

After snack we are going to do play time. (Hayden)

We did Makerspace. We drew our dream room. (Maya)

We did writing. (Adalynn)

We our project. We made reindeer food. It has oats, cranberries, and glitter. (Henry and Rylan)

We watched a little video about why polar bears are white. (Caroline)

We did our family traditions. We looked at pictures. (Will M. and Kennedy)

We read Animals’ Santa. (Abby)

We did morning meeting. (Parker)

We played on the blacktop. (Aiden)

We did the Zero the Hero Stomp. It is the 80th day of school. (Caroline)

We did the calendar. (Maya)

Tomorrow is our Polar Express Day! Kids can come in pajamas (tennis shoes please). They are also welcome to bring a small stuffed animal or blanket if they would like. Small enough to fit in their backpack would be best!

Here is what we did today!

We had P.E. We jogged. We played a game. (Will M, James, and Maya)

We worked on our surprise. (Azayla)

We did Daily 5. (Abby)

We did math. We played Part Whole Bingo. We rolled 2 dice and got that many snap cubes. We put it on the numbers. You would split the cubes. (Hayden)

We did our project. We did an ornament. It is a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. (Caroline and Will C.)

We did read aloud. It was Gingerbread Christmas. (Maya and Evalynn)

We did Fundations. We learned the letters v and w. (Evalynn)

We read our family traditions. (Kennedy)

We had guest readers. (Azayla)

We did the calendar. (Adalynn)

Our Holiday party is this Thursday from 2:20-2:50 pm. The kids will play games and have a snack. Parents are welcome to join in on the fun! Hope you can make it!

Wed, Dec. 19-Pajama/Holiday Headgear or Hat Day (Kindergarten will do a Polar Express day this day!)

Thurs, Dec. 20-Fancy Socks Day

Winter Break will be from Fri, Dec. 21 through Wed, Jan 2.  School will resume on Thurs, Jan. 3.

We highlighted all the word wall words in our poem. (Maya)

We made a reindeer headband. (Abby)

We did the weather. (Rylan)

We used a balance in math. We figured out which things were heavier and lighter. (Hayden)

We did recess. (Maya)

We had Fundations. We did the letters l, k, and h. We got new whiteboards. (Aster and Maya)

We wrote in our reindeer book. (Kent)

We had morning meeting. (Aster)

We did the calendar. (Parker)

Next week is spirit week!  Students are free to participate in any or all of the days!

We are making our own non-fiction books. (Grayson)

We went to art. We got to color. We did a drawing and then we sat in a circle and shared about our picture. (James, Maya, and Aster)

Kennedy was our teacher helper. (Azayla)

We did Fundations. We did h, l, and k. We used the word frames to make questions. (Evalynn)

We did the singing assembly. I liked the Grinch song. (Rylan)

We did math. We figured out ways to make 5 with red and blue crayons. (Hayden)

We did a short Daily 5. (Parker)

We did calendar. (Adalynn)

Mrs. Baker came and taught us how not to have a meltdown. (Caroline) They worked on “cool down” strategies for when we get mad!

We read a book called The Wild Christmas Reindeer. (Abby)

We had recess. (Maya)

For writing we worked on a surprise for moms and dads. (Will C.)

Just a reminder…please keep toys from home at home. This is part of our MCE handbook.

Also, please make sure your student has a snack in their backpack every day! I am currently out of extra snacks for kids who forget theirs. If anyone would like to donate extra snacks (individual wrapped snacks like granola bars, cracker packs, etc.) that would be very much appreciated!

At Cody’s Snowball Shoppe, our 4th grade buddies came. (Abby)

We did math. We tried to make a full hexagon with the pattern blocks. We used triangles, trapezoids, and rhombuses. (Rylan)

We did read aloud. It was a book about reindeer. (Maya)

We did project. We are doing an All About Reindeer book. (Azayla and Caroline)

We are having snack. (Maya)

We did calendar. (Henry)

Next week we will be talking about the holiday traditions of families in our class!  Take a moment to talk with your child about the holidays you celebrate and the traditions your family has each year.  We'd love to hear what special traditions your family has at this time of year!  With your child, send our class an e-mail about the things your family does each year.  We will use these e-mails to spark conversations about different holiday customs our families have.  It would also be wonderful if you include a picture or two! Please send this email by Monday. December 17th!
