Happy Friday Everyone!

Here is what we did today:

Mrs. Miller, Miss Miller’s mom came and read Dewey to us.  It was a story about a cat that lived in a library.  (Zain)

We did science.  For science we did an experiment with lotion and sparkles that showed us what it’s like to spread germs. (Adeline)
This experiment got glitter all over us! But it helped us learn how easily germs can be spread from person to person without us even knowing it if we don't wash our hands.  To show this I gave some students a hand shake with lotion that had glitter in my hand.  Then they had to find a friend to shake their hand so they got lotion on their hands too even though they didn't touch me.

Miss Miller read a book called Germs Are Not For Sharing. (Anna)

We did Daily 5.  We got new choices for word work. (Lexi B)

We had music.  We played a special game and we tried to collect sour notes. (Riley)

We got to highlight the word wall words in the poem called My Body. (Kate)

We had math workstations.  In math we got to play counters in a cup with 8 and 9 counters.  (Kate)

Don't forget your child will be bringing home reading group books for the first time today.  This reading bag of books will be sent home in the Daily Folder. It includes 2 guided reading group books and a strategy bookmark that will stay in the bag. Please keep these books in a safe place (their backpack perhaps) and have your student read these books to you over the weekend.  They are so excited to share all they have been learning with you!  Return the books on Monday in your child's folder. They will need these books for Daily 5 time. Thanks for your help with this!  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Also the sock hop is tonight from 6-8!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi parents!

Here are some of the things that we did today:

We went to the library. Almost all of us got a book.  (Livi and Rilen)

We did a poem and it was called My Body.  We clapped syllables. (Adeline)

We did Daily 5. (Anna)

We did writing.  For writing we made a list of things we know how to do.  (Lexi B)
Today was the first step in beginning our how to books.  We made a list of topics that they were experts on and could tell people how to do step by step.

We did math workstations.  We played collect 15 together.  (Aidin and Kate)
In this game they had to roll a dice and figure out a way to keep track of how many counters they had.  After they either put their counters on a tens frame, made tally marks, or wrote down the number there partner got to roll the dice.  The partner then added counters to the already existing ones.  They had to keep adding on counters or use another strategy until they got to 15.

We did science.  In science we read a little book called My Body is My Buddy.  We wrote about ways that we can take care of our body and then drew a picture of it.  (Zain)

We read a book called Your Insides.  (Emily)

We did fundations.  In fundations we tapped out word families.  (Kamri)

As a reminder the Sock Hop is on Friday as well as the Spring Pictures.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day!!

Hi Parents!

Here is what we did today:

We went to P.E. and we practiced our ball skills and tossing skills.  (Emily)

We did math workstations.  (Livi)

We did writing and we learned about how to books. (Lexi B)
Today we started the process of writing our how to books.  We looked at some examples of what a how to book is, such as how to make trail mix.  We talked about what goes into a how to book and that you have to be an expert on the subject so that you can explain the process of doing something to others.

We did Daily 5.  We got to pick our 2 choices.  (Anna)

We did math.  We played Towers of 6.  (Brooke)
This is a game where they work with a partner to roll two dice that only have 1,2, and 3's on them, and use cubes (different colors for each partner)  to create towers of six.  They take turns rolling the dice and building the towers so that there will be different combinations of six.  When they have made three towers of six they then record it on the number sentence sheet.  This game helps to build addition skills, counting on, and thinking about the combinations of 6 that there are.

We did fundations.  We got to tap out words. (Kate)

We read a book called My Body.  (Adeline)

Next week Mill Creek will be having a spirit week. If you want your  child to participate send them dressed up in the attire chosen for the day!
