I am back! The kids were excited and had lots of things they wanted to tell me! Haha!

Here is what we did today!

We did library. We did tablets and watched a little video. We played guessing games. Me and Will M. got first. (Aster and Evalynn)

Abby was the teacher assistant. (Aiden)

We did the schedule and calendar. (Azayla)

We did project. We did pushes and pulls with a light ball and a heavy ball. (James) We have started talking about force and motion!

We did math. We played a game on the Smartboad. It had cars. We tapped on the dice. We moved the cars. (Caroline) We worked on decomposing numbers!

For read aloud we had a big book about pushing and pulling. (Abby)

We had Fundations. We did the vowel chart. (Parker)

We wrote letters to the principals. (Adalynn)

4-25-19

•           We did the weather.  It was 58* and foggy. (Abby)

•           We went to PE and ran the mile run! (Parker)

•           Our 4th grade buddies came to visit and we got to hold the chicks. (James)

4-26-19

•           Evalynn was the Teacher Assistant. (Aiden)

•           We did a brain break in Music. (James)

•           We made an Egg Project.  We painted the egg yellow and tore some brown paper around it to look like it was cracking out.  We used googly eyes and an orange beak.  (Caroline)

•           We did our last page of our Chick Journals. (Evalynn)

•           We did Daily 5. (Parker)

•           We did Math.  We used marshmallows and toothpicks to make shapes and designs. We even ate a few marshmallows. (Aster)

•           We did Fundations and played Beginning Sound Bingo! (Rylan)

4-29-19

•           Today was our last day with Mrs. Richardson. (Evalynn)

•           Mrs. Hotchkiss will be back tomorrow. (Abby)

•           We played 20 frame memory in math. (Caroline)

•           We went to Art today and made a dinosaur hatching out of an egg. (James)

•           We had indoor recess in the morning. (Parker)

•           We colored and read 2 mini books today and we did Daily 5.(Azayla)

We did math. We had to roll a 10-sided dice. We used base 10 blocks. We built the number we rolled with the dice. We wrote the number on the paper. (Caroline)

In writing, we wrote in our chick hatching journals. Mrs. Hotchkiss taught us how to hold the chicks! We got to hold them! (Aster)

Here is what we did today!

At math today, we did Dot Addition. We wrote an addition number sentence on the recording sheet. (Caroline)

Our baby chicks hatched today! Eleven chicks hatched. (Aiden and Hayden)

We went to art. In art we painted flowers. Some kids got to paint rocks. (Parker and Evalynn)

We did writing. We colored our egg calendar and wrote in our chick hatching journals. We wrote about what we noticed about the chicks today. (Aster)

For read aloud we read Where Do Chick’s Come From? (Abby)

We got to look at the eggs and chicks! (Azayla)

I will be out of town Thursday-Monday. If you have a change in transportation or need anything please call the office on those days.  

You are welcome to pop in during drop off or dismissal to see the chicks! They will be headed back to the farm on Friday morning. Make sure to check out all the pictures and videos on Class Dojo! It was a very egg-citing day! 😉

Here is what we did today!

We did project. We sorted recycling. (Aster)

We did math. We flicked a spinner and rolled a dice. We had to cover up a number on the board. There was 1 more and 1 less. There was 2 more and 2 less. It was a 12-sided dice! (Caroline)

The chicks are starting to hatch. (Azayla) We have little pip holes! I am guessing many will hatch overnight!

We went on our field trip. (Grayson)

For our field trip we went to Tiger Bounce and HyVee. (Rose)

After the field trip we came back and ate lunch. (James)

After lunch we had a little play time. (Parker)

We had P.E. We played volleyball. We played Pick Up the Trash. (Aster)

Miss Paula at HyVee talked about how many fruits and vegetables we should eat. (Azayla)

In P.E. we jogged. (Parker)

We took the egg turner out of the incubator! (Evalynn)

We did days in school. Only 4 more days until we get to 150. (Maya)

We saw all the different kinds of bread and bread slicer at HyVee. (Will C.)

At HyVee we went in the refrigerator. (Abby)

Your kiddo should be nice and worn out tonight! They had lots of fun!

Reading bags are in backpacks! Return these books on Monday! I put some fun living and non-living items in folders as well! These do not need to be returned!

Here is what we did today!

We did math. We sorted jelly beans and recorded how many of each color. We did tally marks as well. After that we got to eat them! (Aster)

We made something with circuit blocks. (Maya) In Media

We did library in the Makerspace room. (Parker)

We are doing project. It is a bunny headband. It says, “Hoppy Spring.” (Evalynn)

We did poem. We got to highlight digraphs. (James)

We did read aloud. We read Living and Non-Living. (Abby)

In Fundations we played game where you had to go behind where we keep the letters and pick an object. Then the person grabs one with their eyes close. They tap the word and the class guesses the object. (Rylan)

We tapped nonsense words in Fundations. They were not real words. (Caroline)

Here is some information about the field trip tomorrow. Please make sure your child arrives to school on time tomorrow. ALL students MUST be WEARING socks in order to participate at Tiger Bounce. We will be loading buses at 9:00 and plan to arrive to Tiger Bounce by 9:30. Parents can meet us at Tiger Bounce at 9:30 a little bit before. My class will be walking directly over to Hy-Vee as soon as we arrive. We will be taking a 45 min tour of the Hy-Vee facility. After our tour we will be walking  back to Tiger Bounce for some jumping fun. The Skating rink WILL NOT be open during this field trip. Please DO NOT purchase snacks at the concession stand for the children. We will be leaving Tiger Bounce at 12:00 and returning to school by 12:30. When we return we plan to have a picnic lunch

(hopefully outside).

Hy-Vee will be providing:

Slice of cheese for each child

Cookie for each child

Fruit for each child

Fortune cookie for each child

PTA is purchasing cheese pizzas for the kids.

We will also have capri suns.

If your child would prefer to bring their own picnic lunch, that is fine. Parents are welcome to join us at school for our picnic. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks so much!

We did poem. We got to highlight some digraphs. It was called The Chick. (Will M. and Caroline)

We did a sort of where animals and plants live. (James)

We did math. We played Count Around the Circle. Mrs. Hotchkiss would interrupt us and make us start at a different number. We were practicing counting on. (Hayden)

We read a book called Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow? (Xander)

We did Fundations. We did tapping. We did sentence frames. We built the sentence “Abby is as tall as Aster.” The trick word was “as”. (Caroline, Abby, and Aster)
