Here is what we did today!

Today we cleaned up our classroom! (James)

It is our last day of school. (Parker)

We celebrated Parker’s birthday. He brought ice cream. It was chocolate and vanilla. (Abby)

We cleaned our lockers and our book boxes and chair covers. We cleaned around the classroom. (Aster)

Today is a half day. (Adalynn)

We did a coloring packet. It had 3 word searches. (Caroline)

We had no specials. (Will C.)

We did read aloud. Mrs. Hotchkiss read Mrs. Bindergarten Celebrates the Last Day of Kindergarten. (Aster)

Mr. Hotchkiss and Auggie came today. (Aiden)

We had play time. (Abby)

I was the teacher assistant. (Evalynn)

We wrote about what we will do in the summer. (Grayson)

If your child was not at school today, I will put their supply box in the office! You can pick it up during Summer School hours or on Thursday evening during the Summer School Meet the Teacher Night.

I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to teach your children this year! I love each and every one of them and will miss them dearly! It is so awesome to see how far they have come!! It has been a wonderful year! Thanks for letting me be apart of your lives! Have a wonderful summer!!

Here is what we did today!

We did some math games on the smartboard. We played Car Race and Monster Squeeze and Roll and Record. (Caroline)

We had an assembly. We did the Cougar of the Month and Abby got it! Hayden got perfect attendance. The 5th graders gave high fives to everyone. (Aster)

I brought Mercy Watson cookies! (Abby)

We watched a Pete the Cat video about the magical sunglasses that make your day look better. (Aiden)

We did water day! (Azayla)

We did Kent’s birthday! (James)

We got splashed at water day. There were bubbles. (Maya)

We had Fundations. We did trick words. (Evalynn)

People were running to the pools and jumping in! (Hayden)

In water day there were squirt guns and people were chasing Mrs. Hotchkiss and squirting her! (Rylan)

Mercy came to school today! It was actually Mrs. Hotchkiss! She looked like Mercy Watson Princess in Disguise. (Evalynn, Parker, and Aster)

We had a toast party! Some people got hot buttered toast with a great deal of butter on it! It was really good! (Kennedy and Caroline)

We got to pick out a Mercy Watson book. I picked Mercy Watson To The Rescue.  (Rylan)

We did writing. We wrote about favorite Mercy Watson book and our favorite part  of that story. We drew a picture. (Grayson)

We did Bump Up Day! We met all of the first grade teachers. In first grade they do Daily 5. We only get 2 recesses. (Rylan, Grayson, and Evalynn)

It is going to a fun filled week!

Graduation program is Wednesday at 2:20 pm (get there early to get a seat)! Wednesday is also Walk to School Day if you and your child would like to participate.

On Thursday we are going to have a Mercy Watson party and eat hot buttered toast on blue plates just like Mercy!

Friday is our water day! Have the kids come with swimsuits under their clothes and a change of clothes for the afternoon!

I will try to send most things home on Thursday/Friday. If your child will not be coming on Tuesday the 28^th please let me know. Thanks!

In Field Day we are popsicles. (Maya)

We watched a movie in library. We didn’t have specials. (Aiden)

At Field Day we also did a car wash game. The first person soaks a sponge and passes it over their head. The last person squeezes it into a bucket. (Evalynn)

Friday’s school lunch choices are hot dog or Uncrustable. This is being provided by PTA for all students! We will be having a picnic lunch as a class. Students may bring a lunch from home if they wish.

Tomorrow is field day! If you would like to apply sunscreen to your child, it needs to be done before school. Students should wear comfy clothes that they can get wet/a little dirty in. You may also want to send a change of clothes and shoes in your child's backpack so they can change in to them after field day. Nurse Molly does not have enough clothes for all students to change, so she cannot give students clean clothes due to them being wet or dirty from field day. Students may also bring hats and sunglasses. :)

We had art today. We got all of our stuff. We made statues of dinosaurs and we got to take that home too. (Aiden)

We read Mercy Watson. We finished the fourth book. (Evalynn and Abby)

We did math. For math we measured our backpacks with snap cubes. We measured how tall they are. We got a big piece of paper and we put our backpack on it. We traced it and cut it out. We were trying to see which backpack was the biggest. We talked about width and area. (Rylan and Grayson)

We did writing. We did our memory book. We wrote about what was our favorite day at school. (Aster)

We did the schedule and the calendar. It is almost my birthday! (Azayla)

Here is what we did today at school!

We had music today. We played a Froggie game. We sang the songs we are going to sing at Graduation about going to first grade. We did a GoNoodle. It was Chicka Boom. (Aiden and Rylan)

We read Mercy Watson Princess in Disguise. They went to the Lincoln sister’s house. One of them said not to give the pig candy but Baby Lincoln gave some to Mercy. She dressed up like a princess. (Abby)

We did Fundations. We did our magnet boards. In Fundations, we did tapping. (James and Adalynn)

There are 9 days left in school. (Kent)

We did math with a partner. We flipped over 2 cards and you would subtract. Whoever had the bigger answer would take all the cards and put them at the bottom of their deck. (Aster)

We did a memory book for remembering Kindergarten. We wrote about our teacher and the next page was about a friend. And the third page was about more friends. (Abby)

Field Day is Friday! The kids will  be outside from 8:30-9:50 am! Please apply sunblock before school (I am not allowed to do it)! Lunch will be provided (hot dogs, chips, bottled water, ice pops). Please make sure kids have a change of clothes/shoes because they will get wet with some of the games! A small towel would be good as well! Swimming suits are not necessary. It will be lots of fun!!

Our class earned another set of 100 Cougar Compliments! To celebrate, the class voted to have another “Bring Your Favorite Toy to School” party! We will be doing this TOMORROW (May 10^th). Each student can bring one small toy to school on this day. This could be a board game, small bag of legos or blocks, an action figure, a doll, stuffed animal, toy car, etc. No toy weapons please! Students can bring an electronic toy (such as a DS or small tablet) if the sound can be turned off or headphones can be plugged in. Please make sure it is fully charged or has new batteries. Please do not send valuable electronic toys because these toys will be unsupervised at times (recess, specials, etc.) Students will have the opportunity to play with these items at specific points in the school day. They will only be allowed to play with the toy in the classroom setting (not bus line, etc.) Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you!

We also started the second book in the Mercy Watson series, Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride! Ask your child what happened in today’s book!

We went to P.E. We play a game called Battleship. We had pins. We had balls to knock them over. If all your pins knock down you have to move your ship and connect it to another ship. (James)

We have had a few problems with multiple kids bringing in toys to school lately. Please make sure your student leaves all toys at home (unless it is a special event like our toy party on Friday). This includes stuffed animals, toy phones, card games, etc. Thank you!!

When Mrs. Hotchkiss read the Mercy Watson book, 2 people got to hold the stuffed pigs. One was wearing a dress. (Caroline and Rose)

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. (Aster)

We did project. We did a bowling experiment. There were teams of 5 kids. We couldn’t touch the ball. Team “Golf” got 3 pins. Team “Ozobots” got 8 pins. Our team got 9. Team “Color Run” got 8! (Rylan and Grayson)

We had art today. We read a book about monsters. We made monsters. (Aiden and Parker)

For math we put numbers in order from smallest to largest. We played a game on ABCya called Fuzz Bugs. (Caroline)

For writing we did letters to people. (Abby and Azayla)
